Near Mountain Creek Park, we plan shade beds, privacy screening, patios and walls for Sherrills Ford properties beneath pine, beech, hickory and oak canopy. Grade and drainage guide the layout, with a free property estimate and no trip fee.
Sherrills Ford has no customer-facing location for our business because design decisions are made at the yard. Our crew uses Little Mountain Road during weekly work among these towns and keeps the appointment arranged with each owner.
Mountain Creek Park is located at 6554 Little Mountain Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673.
Mountain Creek Park is a 606-acre Catawba County park on the northwestern tip of Lake Norman, with most of the land under conservation easements. It opened June 18, 2022.
The park has about 19.5 miles of multi-use trails, a fishing pier at the mouth of Mountain Creek, kayak launch, adventure playground, pickleball courts and dog park. It was built with Duke Energy, the NC Land and Water Fund and Catawba Lands Conservancy.
Wooded lots can include pine, beech, hickory and oak. Shade-tolerant beds and privacy screens need to work around canopy and roots, while retaining walls and patios on lakefront slopes need grade and drainage planned together.
Heavy canopy changes sunlight across a wooded lot while roots and leaf litter occupy the ground below. Planting design therefore uses the actual exposure and available root-free space instead of applying a full-sun bed layout under mature trees.
Retaining walls and patios can form useful levels on a lakefront slope, but their elevations must work together before either is installed. Privacy planting along a road or neighboring line is then fitted around remaining trees and the drainage course between terraces.
Arranges shaded planting and open space around the mature canopy retained on a Sherrills Ford lot.
Uses the light and root conditions observed beneath pine, beech, hickory or oak trees.
Fits evergreen screening between existing trunks, the road or a neighboring boundary without blocking runoff.
Forms usable tiers on rolling lakefront ground with drainage considered in the structural layout.
Sets a level hardscape area within the terraced grade and connects it to the house or yard path.
Builds a contained shade bed whose edge resists leaf litter and downhill mulch movement.
Sherrills Ford is unincorporated and falls under Catawba County’s Erosion Control and Stormwater division. Work close to the Lake Norman shoreline may require approval from the lake’s managing authority, Catawba County, or both.

We map the available light, visible roots and bed space first, then recommend placement suited to those conditions.
We coordinate their elevations, base areas and drainage before excavation so both features occupy one coherent terrace.
We inspect openings between established trees and choose a line that preserves access, root room and the existing water route.
