Wooded Sherrills Ford lots around Mountain Creek Park combine rolling ground, creek inlets and slopes that lead toward Lake Norman. We assess runoff hidden by roots and leaf litter before it reaches lower walls or patios; the on-site estimate is free with no trip fee.
Southern Style Turf & Design has no Sherrills Ford storefront, so our crew comes out to inspect the land itself. Weekly service through these communities keeps Little Mountain Road familiar, and we plan each appointment to arrive when stated.
Mountain Creek Park is at 6554 Little Mountain Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673.
Mountain Creek Park is a 606-acre Catawba County park on the northwestern tip of Lake Norman, with most of the land under conservation easements. It opened June 18, 2022.
The park has about 19.5 miles of multi-use trails, a fishing pier at the mouth of Mountain Creek, kayak launch, adventure playground, pickleball courts and dog park. It was built with Duke Energy, the NC Land and Water Fund and Catawba Lands Conservancy.
Lakefront and wooded Sherrills Ford lots sit on rolling ground around creek inlets. Slopes concentrate runoff toward the water, and heavy storms can wash soil and mulch downhill or load walls and patios that lack drainage.
Pine, beech, hickory and oak roots can obscure shallow channels while fallen leaves cover sediment and wash marks. We examine the wooded surface carefully to understand how stormwater travels around trunks and where it concentrates on the lower grade.
Lakefront slopes and creek inlets draw water downhill, placing extra load on patios and tiered walls when their drainage was not planned with the structure. Any proposed collection or grading stays within the private work area while shoreline approval questions are identified separately.
Intercepts subsurface moisture along a wooded slope while the trench route accounts for visible root zones.
Shapes a shallow course around established trees where open surface flow can remain practical.
Provides a separate path behind each wall section carrying a change in the lakefront grade.
Studies low ground around a creek-inlet lot before choosing collection, grading or subsurface work.
Locates an inlet where the wooded slope reaches a clear collection point with suitable fall.
Keeps concentrated roof water from starting an erosion line through leaf-covered ground.
Sherrills Ford is unincorporated and falls under Catawba County’s Erosion Control and Stormwater division. Work close to the Lake Norman shoreline may require approval from the lake’s managing authority, Catawba County, or both.
Mountain Creek Park is in Sherrills Ford, and its entrance is directly off Little Mountain Road. Map apps can misroute visitors, so use the embedded map centered on the supplied park coordinates.
We identify visible root zones and adapt grading or trench placement rather than drawing a straight path through wooded ground.
Each change in elevation is reviewed for water gathering behind it, and drainage is planned with the individual wall section.
We keep the proposed scope on private property and direct approval questions to the lake's managing authority or Catawba County.
