We prepare and plant beds, walkways and privacy screening on established Davidson West Side lots, working around the trees already on the property. Estimates are free and on-site, with no trip fee.
There's no Davidson showroom to stop by, since estimates and work both happen at your address. Our crew is on Griffith Street and across the other Lake Norman towns we serve every week, we know the I-77 Exit 30 approach into the West Side, and we plan routes so we show up on the day and time we gave you.
Roosevelt Wilson Park is located at 420 Griffith Street, Davidson, NC 28036.
Roosevelt Wilson Park is on Davidson’s historic West Side and includes a pond and boardwalk, playground, picnic area, paved walkways and a children’s amphitheater built with the Westside Safety Committee.
The park reopened on May 28, 2021, after the EPA and North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality cleaned up asbestos left from the former Carolina Asbestos mill next door.
Mature Davidson streets call for landscape work that respects existing canopy and the scale of older homes. Renovation can retain sound trees, rebuild shade beds and repair walkways while keeping the overall design fitted to the street.
Older West Side yards usually already have canopy worth keeping. Before adding beds or screening, we look at which trees are healthy, where their roots run close to the surface, and how much sun actually reaches the ground beneath them, since that changes what will grow there.
Hardscape on these lots has its own history. A walkway or patio installed years ago may have settled unevenly with the surrounding soil. Rebuilding a section means re-establishing a proper base rather than laying new pavers over ground that's already uneven.
Fits new plantings around established canopy and surface roots typical of older West Side lots.
Rebuilds tired beds at Davidson homes with soil suited to shaded, root-filled ground.
Screens a West Side property line without crowding existing trees.
Rebuilds a settled walkway section on a prepared base matched to the home's original grade.
Retains healthy shade trees while replacing worn beds and walkways around a mature Davidson home.
Restores lawn areas disturbed by root work or old walkway removal without changing where water already runs.
Smooths bare or rutted turf under thinning canopy common on older Davidson shade lots.
The Town of Davidson maintains its own drainage system, separate from Mecklenburg County’s program, and the stormwater fee is billed jointly.
Decades ago, waste from the former mill was used as fill in some yards and driveways in this area. If your property is near the old mill, ask about this before any digging and check with the EPA or NC DEQ. Southern Style Turf & Design does not test for or remove asbestos.
Use I-77 Exit 30 at the Griffith Street interchange, then follow Griffith Street to the park. Use the embedded map for the entrance.
We look at where surface roots sit before digging and adjust bed edges and depth to stay clear of them rather than cutting through root systems to force a straight line.

We note how much direct sun reaches each bed location during the visit and select plant placement that fits that light level rather than assuming full sun.
