We fix standing water, flattened swales and downspouts that dump next to the foundation on Davidson's West Side lots. A visit starts with a free on-site estimate, with no trip fee.
We don't keep a storefront or office on Griffith Street or anywhere else, because the crew comes to your property. We're in Davidson and the other Lake Norman towns we serve every week, so we know how I-77 Exit 30 feeds Griffith Street and the West Side, and we set the schedule so we can reach your address and arrive when we said we would.
Roosevelt Wilson Park is at 420 Griffith Street, Davidson, NC 28036.
Roosevelt Wilson Park is on Davidson’s historic West Side and includes a pond and boardwalk, playground, picnic area, paved walkways and a children’s amphitheater built with the Westside Safety Committee.
The park reopened on May 28, 2021, after the EPA and North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality cleaned up asbestos left from the former Carolina Asbestos mill next door.
The West Side is a long-established neighborhood. Older lots can combine mature tree roots with settled grades, clogged or undersized drainage and walkways that no longer sit at their original elevation.
Decades of settling on the West Side can leave a yard that no longer drains the way it did when the homes were built. Tree roots lift walkways, old downspout lines corrode or disconnect underground, and a side yard that once sloped away from the house can flatten enough to hold water after a normal rain.
We check the fall across the lot before deciding on a fix. A flattened swale calls for regrading rather than a pipe. A corroded downspout line calls for replacement rather than patching. A low spot pooling water near an old walkway needs a collection point tied to a route that actually reaches a lawful outlet, not just a deeper hole filled with gravel.
Intercepts water moving through soil beneath mature root systems on older West Side lots.
Replaces aging or disconnected downspout lines common on Davidson homes built decades ago.
Restores side-yard slope where settling has flattened the original route between neighboring houses.
Sets an inlet at a defined low point where an old walkway or patio now collects water.
Traces a recurring puddle near the house back to its cause before placing any drain.
Collects runoff crossing a brick or paver walkway that has settled below the surrounding grade.
Adds a path behind an aging Davidson landscape wall so trapped water doesn't push on it.
The Town of Davidson maintains its own drainage system, separate from Mecklenburg County’s program, and the stormwater fee is billed jointly.
Decades ago, waste from the former mill was used as fill in some yards and driveways in this area. If your property is near the old mill, ask about this before any digging and check with the EPA or NC DEQ. Southern Style Turf & Design does not test for or remove asbestos.
Use I-77 Exit 30 at the Griffith Street interchange, then follow Griffith Street to the park. Use the embedded map for the entrance.
We route drainage around root zones we can see and avoid placing trenches where they would cut through major roots, adjusting the path rather than the tree.
We check the existing line's condition and replace sections that no longer carry water instead of connecting new pipe to a line that's already failing.
