Summer storms can send water and clay sediment down Mt. Holly yards that fall toward the Catawba River. Near Tuckaseege Park, we trace that fast surface flow before it strips beds or gathers below; estimates are free on site with no trip fee.
We keep no Mt. Holly storefront since the drainage crew needs to inspect the actual slope. Broome Street is part of our regular weekly travel across the towns served, and we honor the appointment arranged for the property.
Tuckaseege Park is at 165 Broome Street, Mount Holly, NC 28120.
Tuckaseege Park is a city park with baseball and multi-purpose fields, a playground, four picnic shelters, a dog park and a skate park.
The park includes an educational rain garden and pollinator garden. It is also a trailhead for the A&E Riverfront Trail, a paved greenway along the Catawba River.
Ground near the Catawba River falls toward the water. Summer storms can move quickly over clay, carrying sediment and washing mulch to the bottom of a slope. The park’s rain garden is a local example of slowing and absorbing runoff on site.
Runoff on river-facing ground gains speed as the grade steepens, carrying mulch from beds and exposing bare soil at the bottom. The park's rain garden illustrates the local principle of slowing and soaking stormwater rather than letting it cross the land unchecked.
Established yards may contain older borders or paths placed directly in that downhill course. We inspect the upper source and lower collection area together before deciding where flow can be slowed, intercepted or redirected.
Creates a gentler route across a Mt. Holly slope to reduce concentrated surface flow.
Treats the lower area where fast runoff meets flatter ground and begins pooling.
Intercepts subsurface moisture above an established bed near the river-facing grade.
Collects water at a specific basin below a hill instead of allowing broad saturation.
Keeps roof discharge from adding to storm flow already descending the lawn.
Provides a path behind a wall used to manage an older sloped yard.
The City of Mount Holly operates its stormwater program through the Public Works Utilities Division and charges a monthly stormwater fee based on a property’s hard surfaces. The stormwater hotline is 704-813-0251. Drainage on private property is the property owner’s responsibility.
Broome Street leads to Tuckaseege Park. Use the embedded map for the park entrance.
We inspect the speed and direction of runoff above the bed, then plan interception or grading before replacing loose material.
We assess whether a suitable on-site area can slow and absorb water without creating a new wet spot or crossing property limits.
We separate private-property work from public infrastructure and direct municipal concerns to Mount Holly's stormwater program.
