We grade and landscape Huntersville properties around the Rural Hill area, with work suited to lots that meet woods, fields or open property lines. Estimates are free at your property, with no trip fee.
There is no storefront or office because we meet homeowners where the work will happen. Our crew works throughout Huntersville and the other communities we serve every week, knows Sam Furr Road, Beatties Ford Road and Neck Road, and plans visits so we can reach properties quickly and show up as agreed.
Historic Rural Hill is a 265-acre historic site and nature preserve at 4431 Neck Road. The Davidson family owned and farmed the property for six generations.
Eight historic structures remain on the site. Among them are the Davidson One-Room Schoolhouse, built in 1890, and the Bethesda Schoolhouse, built about 1900 and recognized as one of the first African-American schools in Mecklenburg County.
The landmark sits in the more open western side of Huntersville, where fields and woods shape how nearby properties feel and function. Landscaping on lots with open exposure or a wooded edge starts with grade, sunlight, wind and the length of the property line.
Open ground receives full sun and more wind than a protected side yard. A property that backs to woods has a different edge, with shade, roots and leaf litter meeting the maintained landscape. We use those site conditions to decide where grading, planting beds and screening belong.
The ground still has Piedmont clay beneath it. Before installing a bed or leveling a lawn, we check how the surface drains and whether the soil has been compacted. A privacy hedge along a long property line needs consistent bed preparation, spacing based on the available area and a layout that does not block the yard's water path.
Shapes open or sloped ground for practical use while preserving a controlled path for runoff.
Organizes lawn, beds and usable areas around a wooded edge or exposed property line.
Places new planting according to the lot's sunlight, wind exposure, roots and available room.
Creates a planned screen along an open boundary without assuming every part of the line has the same conditions.
Prepares defined planting areas rather than setting plants directly into compacted clay.
Corrects rough or settled lawn areas while maintaining the grade needed to carry surface water.
Reworks an existing yard where woods, open exposure or changed grades no longer fit the current planting layout.
I-77 Exit 25, then west on NC-73 (Sam Furr Rd) about 3 miles, past Birkdale Village. Turn left on Beatties Ford Rd and go about 4 miles, past Bradley Middle School. Turn right on Neck Rd and go about 2 miles, crossing the McDowell Creek bridge. Rural Hill is on the right just past the McDowell Creek Water Treatment Plant (use the second entrance).
We evaluate sunlight, roots, leaf litter, grade and the amount of maintained space the homeowner wants. Beds and planting areas are then placed to work with that edge rather than ignoring it.
We look at the available width, sunlight, wind exposure, grade and drainage along the full line. The planting bed is prepared as part of the installation instead of treating each planting hole separately.
We map the existing water path before changing the surface. Leveling is planned around that path so the work does not fill a needed swale or direct runoff toward a structure.
