Even homes built a decade ago may still have the underlying soil conditions from construction: compacted clay subsoil, stripped topsoil, minimal drainage infrastructure, and grade that barely meets code minimums. ## Huntersville's Growth Pattern and What It Creates These conditions manifest as persistent lawn problems (thin turf, summer die-back), drainage issues that have gradually worsened as soil compaction has increased over years of lawn traffic, and foundation grade that has settled and reversed since original construction. ## New Construction Landscape Assessment If you've been in a Huntersville home for less than 10 years and are starting to notice consistent drainage or turf problems, a drainage and grading assessment before investing in new landscaping is worth doing.
